With performances in Jamie Foxx’s LAFFAPALOOZA! New Faces of Comedy, the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition and Festival, and the Boston Comedy and Movie Festival, Corey Manning is a talented comedian who is gifted at his craft.
SUPER HERO BY DAY
Laugh And Learn participants from two Boston Public Schools take the stage at the Comedy Connection of Boston.
Humor and laughter are at the cornerstone of young people's everyday interaction with each other and their environment. Laugh And Learn (L&L) is designed to help young people channel their humor and comedic nature positively. Students developed and utilize skills that can be transferred into a variety of learning experiences.
L&L is also designed to help students find their voice, using the exploration of humor and comedy. So there are elements of this program for a variety of different students. At the beginning of the series students will share their different interest, and together the students and group leader will find ways to incorporate them into the program activities.
L&L sessions will incorporate public speaking exercises, word association and vocabulary building exercises, research and idea formation activities, and a variety of exercises to explore humor across different mediums. L2L sparks students' passion and motivation for learning, which are important ingredients to improving the academic and developmental outcomes for young people.
L&L customizes the program activities to meet the specific needs of each school and the students. The program can be tailored to the academic and developmental needs of students from Grade 4-12.
Youth choice is incorporated throughout the series. As students explore their interest and talents they will have an opportunity to work as a team to develop and produce a culminating event at the end of the series. All students will be encouraged to try to step outside of their comfort zones, and choose to engage in a variety of activities.
Team building exercises are used during each session, as a means to build community within the group. There is a combination of individual and small group activities throughout the series. There are opportunities for reflection after many of the skill building exercises. In addition, at the close of each session a group evaluation will be conducted. It will summarize how the session went; what went well; and what could be done to improve sessions.
